The Lions (5-3, 2-3) defense never let the struggling Patriots cross the goalline, as the Lions 'D' forced seven turnovers by the Patriots' offense. Lapeer native Kenny Yelle led the defense for the Lions by getting 10 tackles while intercepting three passes. Elijah Marshall (Flint), Aric Palmer (Brandon) and Angel Pizzaro (Imlay City) also picked off one pass a piece for the Lions defense.Ê Jeff Tody (Davison) registered eight tackles and 2.5 sacks for the Lions while Justin Galvinski (Capac) brought down six. The Lions defense had a total of seven sacks. For the offense, Sortor (Imlay City) led the efficient Lions offense to an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter. Sortor engineered another successful drive in the second followed by one more in the third. The Lions scored twice in the fourth quarter to secure the blowout victory. Sortor's favorite target for the day was receiver Terry Mitchell (Port Huron), who hauled in five passes for 70 yards and a touchdown. Tight end David Grapentin (Imlay City) caught three passes for 71 yards and a score and WR Ben Manns (Marlette) grabbed two passes for 31 yards and a score. The rushing game was led by Imlay City native Brad Jackman, who gained 65 yards on 11 carries. For the game, the Lions totaled 114 yards on the ground on 29 attempts. The Lions are off until August 23, when they welcome the Tri-City Thunder to Almont High School.
