Saturday was Flag Day in the United States, and in Lapeer County the day was celebrated with activities at the historic courthouse in downtown Lapeer. At right a member of the American Legion Post 16 posted the colors during the program sponsored by the Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce and the Heritage Research Institute. Below, students from Debbie Daley's first-grade class at Mayfield Elementary School performed "Proud to be an American" on the court steps. A townhall meeting was conducted following the ceremony. For more photos of flag retirement ceremony photos in Lapeer, see Wednesday's print edition of the County Press.
